Below are the civil and criminal penalties for writing a bad check in North Dakota.
Civil Penalties: Amount due, collection fees not to exceed $10, and $100 or triple amount of the check, whichever is less.
Criminal Penalties: $25 - $250 fine, or up to 3 months in county jail, or both. If no account - fine up to $500 and one year in jail.
